Panchaloga idol of Annapoorani, the ‘Goddess of Nutrition’. Worshipping her and having her presence in our homes ensures we would never have want of food and our lands are blessed with abundant crops and we shall prosper in kind. Having been insulted by Shiva, Parvaty causes adrought and famine on earth. As she sees mankind’s suffering, she relents and provides them with sustenance. Having satedeveryones need for nourishment, she was honored with the name ‘Annapoorani’ where in ‘Annam’ means Food and ‘Poorani’ means she who shall fulfill the need.
